Good afternoon,

Today is Election Day in the United States. All eyes are on Obama and McCain
mccain_obama.jpg

Till the 1960s, Iowa was clearly a republican state, but the last 50 years, it turned into what Americans call a 'swing state'. Four years ago, the Iowans voted for George Bush. This time, it looks like it will be Obama.

Almost everyone in my close environment (house/family of my roommates/colleagues at work) is part of the 'Obamacamp'. And so is the majority of the Iowa City citizens. Iowa City is by far the most liberal city in Iowa. When you go further west you'll get to the more rural part of Iowa, where people favor McCain.

We will do some coverage of the first election results at PATV. This will happen during 'Tom's guitar show'. Tom is a local celebrity in Iowa City. His show, in which he plays all kinds of songs and talks about all kinds of things, is broadcasted weekly for over 14 years now. This week he will talk about the election and we made a map of the United States where we can color states blue (democratic) or red (republican).

Have to go now,

Bye!

UPDATE: OBAMA has won! The rebuilding of the United States of America can begin!

Hello everybody!

My first update from Iowa City.
I've been interning at PATV for a few days now. Yesterday I played around with one of their camera's. Since it was raining outside (see video) I only shot images inside the house. At PATV they also taught me some basic editing, so take a look at this video to see what my apartment is like:

I hope to get back to all of ya soon with more news and short items!

Liefs,
Tex

start. Location: Iowa City, Iowa.

Here I will participate in an 7-month internship at the local community television station called PATV (public access television). I'll be living with Abi and her brother Scot.
